This is a very sad song for me.
It may seem to be a simple love song, but it’s not.
As much as I hate to face it, my love for music has been dying slowly for a long time. I’m not sure if it will go completely, but that is the question I ask in this song.
Over the years I have served music well…I think…but I’m not sure it has served me quite as generously.
Sure, I’ve had my moments…my small triumphs…but in the process of grasping for notes, melodies and meaningful words, and struggling to bring them together with cold machines to create a pleasant recorded performance, I have lost much hope. And the task has become bigger than my original passion. I’m sure I can still write songs…but I’m no longer sure why.
I feel that Nature in her wisdom is telling me it is alright to let my love walk away into the forest. She has given me all she can, and I must not follow.
